Who are Gog and Magog at the end of the Millennium?

When the thousand years of Christ's reign come to an end, Satan is loosed out of his prison and goes out to deceive the nations gathered under the names Gog and Magog. Scripture teaches that Gog is Russia and Magog is Turkey, and that Satan stirs up these nations, along with others such as Iran and Iraq, to form an army "as the sand of the sea" to come against the beloved city.

This final rebellion is described in Revelation 20:7-9, where it says that Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. They go up on the breadth of the earth and compass the camp of the saints about and the beloved city, but fire comes down from God out of heaven and devours them.

After this defeat, the devil that deceived them is cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet already are, and he is tormented day and night for ever and ever. This is followed by the White Throne Judgement and the resurrection of the wicked, and then the arrival of the new heaven and new earth and the New Jerusalem.

It should be noted that this final battle of Gog and Magog after the Millennium is a separate event from the earlier War of Armageddon, in which Gog is also a participant, but which takes place before the Millennium begins and leads into the Millennial Kingdom of Christ.
